The purpose of an evaluation<\/strong> <\/em>is to provide an in-depth understanding of your child\u2019s strengths and weaknesses. This will help to clarify what may be interfering with the child\u2019s ability to function up to his\/her fullest potential. The assessment is very interactive and involves paper and pencil tasks, answering questions, hands-on activities, and sometimes using a computer. Evaluations include individually tailored recommendations that are useful and practical.<\/p>\n

- You think your child may be gifted. A student is eligible for the gifted program if he\/ she demonstrates\u00a01) Need for a special program; 2) A majority of the characteristics of gifted students according to a standardized checklist; and 3) Superior intellectual ability as measured by an IQ at the 98% percentile or higher on an individually administered test of intelligence.<\/li>\n
- Your child is struggling in school or on standardized tests<\/li>\n
- Your child displays difficulty with memory or learning<\/li>\n
- Your child has a history of developmental delay (i.e. language or motor activity)<\/li>\n

Recommendations may include direct interventions, compensatory strategies, accommodations, and\/or supportive services in the school\/home environments.<\/p>\nThe information obtained through an evaluation can be used to design intervention and remediation strategies specifically tailored to your child, and will assist in optimizing learning and successful development.<\/p>\n
