Individual Psychotherapy
I provide individual psychotherapy utilizing a collaborative approach to treatment. Studies have repeatedly shown that the single most important factor in predicting successful treatment outcomes is the relationship between therapist and client. My warm, approachable style allows clients to express themselves and feel comfortable and understood.
INDIVIDUALIZED TREATMENT FOR EACH CLIENT
I draw from a variety of theoretical models and work primarily within the Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy orientation (CBT), which is a present-oriented therapy directed toward solving current problems and teaching skills to modify unhelpful or dysfunctional thinking and behavior. CBT is applicable to almost every problem for which people seek psychotherapy and brings symptom reduction and/or relief in a relatively short period of time. In addition, clients acquire coping skills to manage emotional distress and, ultimately, to make positive changes in their lives.
My treatment style is flexible and I apply strategies in an individualized manner that is unique to each person’s current problems and strengths. I also use techniques from other modalities such as solution focused therapy, motivational interviewing, mindfulness, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT).
TREATMENT AREAS:
- Depression – sadness, lack of motivation
- Anxiety – general worries or fears, social anxiety, phobias, separation anxiety
- Adjustment / stress-related issues
- Social / interpersonal relationship concerns
- Family & divorce issues
- Teen issues
- Self-esteem concerns
- Loss and grief
Sessions are 45-50 minutes and typically held once a week. Factors that influence time spent in treatment may include the nature and severity of symptoms, motivation to improve, and/or specific individual goals. “Booster sessions” oftentimes are useful to clients once they have finished regular treatment as a continuation of care in order to help maintain improvement and minimize the re-occurrence of symptoms.

Know that there is something inside of you greater than any obstacle.”
